Initially, GCCs (only) handled call centers, data processing, and customer care operations. They have now transformed into centers for cutting-edge and niche technologies. MNCs are building in-house tech centers, where GCC is capturing a significant portion of the outsourcing market share of Indian IT services providers.
Despite economic challenges, GCCs actively seek talent in sectors like BFSI, pharmaceuticals, and automotive. Their net headcount growth for FY24 is estimated to exceed 2,00,000 employees, indicating an accelerated hiring pace.
“Companies pitching staff augmentation, training, performance management, employee monitoring should have patience and play a long term game.You can win this game. One needs to follow a multi-touch approach for the GCCs”.
Rishi Dhawan (link), MD of Value Selling, India and APAC told me that,“focusing on CXOs of these GCCs is better because C-level buyers give you an exclusive behind-the-scenes view”.
Sales cycles tend to be faster when dealing with C-level executives. They’re paid to make quick decisions, and they want better solutions ASAP. So, shorter sales cycles can be expected.
More than 7,000 look-alikes of GCCs. If you apply the filters of English speaking countries, 1 billion revenue, you get approximately 7,000 companies in the world. This is the potential that we need to bring to India. More than 4,000 of them are the look-alikes of current GCCs.
There are more than 1800 GCCs in APAC (excluding India). APAC is tougher to sell in the beginning but an option when you want to expand after conquering the India market.
